Nicole F. J. Hamann MBA, is the president of class action, remediation and mass tort solutions for Epiq. With more than 18 years’ experience, Hamann oversees all aspects of case administration and settlement implementation and provides strategic leadership to Epiq’s project management and operations teams. She regularly consults with clients about best practices, creative approaches to the claims process and how to manage settlement resources and costs efficiently. She provides expert testimony in court proceedings on a wide range of actions including securities, SEC enforcement proceedings, truth-in-lending, antitrust, environmental hazards, civil rights, building materials, product liability, insurance and wage violations.

Case Experience

Hamann has personally managed more than 200 complex settlement administration matters, giving her unmatched knowledge and a great depth of experience. Hamann currently heads Epiq’s team on the In re: Payment Card Interchange Fee and Merchant Discount Antitrust Litigation. It was settled in the summer of 2012 for $6.05 billion in the cash fund and $1.2 billion in the interchange fee fund. Epiq has mailed more than 21 million notices to class members, to date. 

Previous Professional Experience

Prior to joining Epiq, Hamann was an anesthesia technician at the UW Medical Center and conducted neuroimmunological research in the multiple sclerosis lab at Oregon Health Sciences University. 

Education

Ms. Hamann holds a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry from the University of Washington and continued her studies at Albert Ludwigs Universistät in Freiburg, Germany. She holds an MBA from the University of Oregon.
