Daniel Ring brings more than two decades of high-stakes litigation and strategic advisory experience to his role as Partner and Co-Chair of Jenner & Block’s Mass Torts and Product Liability Practice. He represents Fortune 500 clients across the chemical, manufacturing, and life sciences industries in multidistrict proceedings, coordinated state actions, and other high-exposure disputes.
Dan has served as lead national and trial counsel for major multinational corporations in some of the most consequential mass tort litigation in the country. His experience includes representing a global manufacturer in the nationwide PFAS and AFFF litigation (MDL 2873) and advising leading medical device companies in multidistrict and multi-state litigation involving complex regulatory and scientific issues, cybersecurity, and cutting-edge legal strategy. He has also defended companies in nationwide product recalls, asbestos, solvents, talc, and other toxic tort matters across jurisdictions, securing favorable results and strategic settlements. One notable matter involved defending claims stemming from a nationwide voluntary recall of turkey deli-meat due to alleged listeria contamination.
Known for developing coordinated defense strategies that align business, scientific, regulatory, and litigation considerations, Dan has extensive experience overseeing multi-forum litigation teams and preparing for trial in high-risk environments. He frequently coordinates defense strategies and advises on risk assessment and liability exposure, including in connection with corporate transactions, often working closely with transactional teams on diligence and indemnity issues. His work often involves coordination with teams to address government, regulatory, and internal investigations and hearings, securities and shareholder derivative litigation, international claims and litigation, and restructuring matters.
Prior to joining Jenner & Block, Dan was a partner at an Am Law 100 firm, where he co-chaired both the Chicago Litigation & Dispute Resolution and the Product Liability & Mass Torts practices. Earlier in his career, he clerked for the Honorable George Marovich of the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
Dan earned his JD from Loyola University of Chicago School of Law, where he served as lead articles editor for the Loyola University of Chicago Law Journal, and his BA from the Northwestern University. He is admitted to practice in Illinois, Louisiana, and before numerous federal trial and appellate courts.
A highly regarded litigator and trusted advisor, Dan is recognized by Chambers USA, which notes he is “creative and incredibly intelligent,” as well as by Benchmark Litigation and LMG Life Sciences for his leadership in complex litigation and ability to guide clients through multifaceted legal and reputational challenges.
