Winston & Strawn LLP

My practice is complex litigation and investigations in the consumer products and financial services spaces, including deep experience in class-action defense, appeals, and regulatory investigations. I work with my clients to develop litigation and pre-litigation strategies that protect and advance their interests and to defend their victories, and fight their losses, on appeal.

I am recognized by my clients and peers as a highly effective writer and litigation advocate, trusted to manage complex, high-stakes, and multijurisdictional matters. I have taken and defended dozens of depositions; drafted hundreds of dispositive and critical motions; prepared dozens of appellate briefs, including before the Supreme Court; argued before numerous federal circuit courts; presented to federal regulators and prosecutors; managed teams of expert witnesses and consultants; negotiated, drafted, and implemented settlement agreements, including numerous nationwide class-action settlements; ushered class-action settlements through the approval process, often over objections; supervised all aspects of discovery in large civil disputes; prepared numerous cases for trial; and taken direct and cross examinations of key witnesses before trial courts.

I am also a trusted counselor, working closely with several large consumer products and financial services companies to provide ongoing advice on regulatory, labeling, and advertising issues and, when appropriate, advocating before regulators for proactive changes to advance my clients’ interests.

I began my career with an incredible year clerking for Judge Sandra Ikuta on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in sunny Pasadena, California, just down the road from the Rose Bowl. After that, I practiced in Los Angeles for several years before moving back to Charlotte, where I grew up. I maintain my California license, and regularly appear in California federal courts.

I earned my J.D., with High Honors, from The University of Chicago Law School in 2011, where I was a member of the University of Chicago Law Review. My B.A. in English, cum laude, is from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
