Lola Velazquez-Aguilu

Velazquez-Aguilu is Vice President and Chief Counsel for Litigation and Investigations at Medtronic, overseeing the company’s global litigation and government investigations portfolio and strategy.

During her tenure at Medtronic, Lola has held senior legal leadership roles across the Neuroscience Portfolio and the Neuromodulation operating unit, leading legal strategy for complex commercial, regulatory, compliance, and operational matters and serving as a strategic partner through a major turnaround and reorganization.

Before joining Medtronic, Lola served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the District of Minnesota focused on white-collar crime. She also practiced at Dorsey & Whitney and clerked for Retired Minnesota Supreme Court Justice Alan C. Page and U.S. District Court Judge Ann D. Montgomery.

Lola is deeply committed to public service and pro bono work. She served as a Special Assistant Attorney General in the successful prosecution of the former Minneapolis police officers charged in the killing of George Floyd. She also served as Chair of the Minnesota Commission on Judicial Selection, appointed by Governor Tim Walz, where she led the evaluation and recommendation of judicial nominees statewide. She is currently a trustee for the Vera Institute of Justice, a national nonprofit organization that partners with impacted communities and government leaders to transform criminal legal and immigration systems so fewer people are incarcerated and everyone behind bars is treated with dignity.
